One of the new features in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 is that it allows you to place the same field (attribute) on to a form more than once. This is achieved by allowing multiple controls (the visible form element) to point to a single attribute (the actual field). By doing this you can alter the attribute and all controls will alter to represent the new change. However you can manipulate each control independently through JavaScript! So this means we can have two controls pointing to the same attribute and set one of them to be disabled and the other to be enabled!

HOW TO: Add default text to fields through JavaScript

Recently I was helping a chap who wanted to add default text to nText fields. The idea is that when a record is first created through the CRM interface the nText field templates a document body that needs to be filled in by the user.┬áThis default text can be achieved through the use of JavaScript! I am going to explain one simple way of achieving default text. Please note that the method mentioned is not perfect. It’s simply demonstrating the concept!
