Recently I posted a tutorial on setting up icons for custom entities. Turns out some of my tutorial was incorrect (Recently corrected)! A friend, Matt Webb was reading through the tutorial and pointed out that MSCRM 2011 no longer uses the 66×48 image size. At first I didn’t believe it, as the help for MSCRM 2011 explained what each icon size is used for. That, along with my previous knowledge on the version 4 icons caused me to go in to denial.
In this tutorial we shall look at how to associate icons with an entity. Adding icons to an entity is actually quite a simple task. It can however get dull quickly when you have a lot of custom entities that require icons. It is definitely worth persevering with though as the icon helps identify your record types.
The task of associating an icon is two fold. First we have to get the icons uploaded into MSCRM as web resources and then we finally associate those web resources with an entity.
